Visiting in a motorhome
Lake Garda is one of those places that feels made for slow travel. Spend the morning wandering a lakeside town, the afternoon by the pool and the evening watching the sunset from your pitch. It's easy to see why it earned a place on our latest European roadtrip.

Family friendly campsites
Bella Italia
Located within walking distance of Peschiera del Garda, Bella Italia is one of the largest family resorts on Lake Garda. With multiple pools, restaurants, entertainment and direct lake access, it's a great choice for families looking for plenty to do without leaving the site.
Available as bungalows, apartments and camping pitches.
Camping San Francesco
A favourite of ours, Camping San Francesco combines a relaxed atmosphere with fantastic family facilities. Located between Peschiera and Sirmione, it offers pools, playgrounds, direct lake access and is also dog-friendly, making it a great option for families travelling with four-legged companions.
Available as mobile homes, bungalows and camping pitches.
Motorhome stopovers
If you want to stay closer to the action, aren't too bothered about fancy campsite facilities and would rather save a little money, Lake Garda has plenty of dedicated motorhome stopovers.
They're usually much more simple than a campsite, think designated parking areas, often with the essentials like water and waste disposal, rather than swimming pools and entertainment. But if you're planning to spend your days out exploring anyway, they can be a great option and are often in really convenient locations.
❋ Peschiera del Garda

We’ve actually stayed at this one, and honestly, it’s one of the best motorhome stopovers we’ve come across.
The facilities are clean and modern, nicer than some of the campsites we’ve stayed at if we’re being completely honest, and it’s in a really handy location too. You can easily walk into Peschiera, where you'll find plenty of restaurants, shops and great transport links for exploring the rest of the lake, including the ferry.
❋ Salò

We haven't actually stayed at this one ourselves, but if you're slowly making your way around Lake Garda, it could make a handy stop.
It's a little bit of a walk into Salò, but as we've probably established by now... the towns around Lake Garda are always worth exploring. It could be a good option for breaking up your journey as you make your way around the lake and ticking another beautiful town off your list at the same time.
❋ Riva del Garda

We haven't stayed at this one ourselves, but Riva del Garda is amazing, so if you're making your way around the lake, we'd definitely recommend adding it to your itinerary.
This stopover is around a 20-minute walk from the town, with the lake just a few minutes away. It's a simple stopover rather than a campsite, but has everything you need for a night or two, including water and waste disposal.
It could be a great option if you want to explore Riva del Garda without paying for a full campsite, and with a 48-hour maximum stay, you've got enough time to properly enjoy one of our favourite spots on the lake.
